Biography
I came to the United States as an international student, studied for 2 years at the Lincoln Trail Community College (LTC) in Illinois (part of the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges), and got an Associate of Science degree. Then I applied to transfer to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and got accepted in both. Couldn’t stand the cold and windy weather in Illinois, I decided to come to UCLA to pursue my Bachelor Degree in Computer Science.
I began my Ph.D. education in the Fall 2008. Since I transferred from an M.S. to a Ph.D., course-wise speaking, my timing in the program was equivalent to a typical 3rd year Ph.D. student at the time. I joined the Technical Entrepreneur Community (TEC) as an Executive Board Member in the year of 2008, and spent my free time running the organization.

Biography
I grew up in La Mirada on the outskirts of Los Angeles County. Following La Mirada High, I attended UCLA completing a Bachelor’s program in Evolutionary Biology, but also carried a Specialization in Business and a minor in English.I worked in a few different jobs that spanned a variety of fields. These included: lab assistant, Health Insurance, Community Services Non-profit, and teaching high school science. Finally ended up at The Princeton Review, where I continue to work as an educational contractor.
I have a pretty varied set of interests which include running (completed the LA Marathon!) , drawing, appreciating music and film, trying and preparing unique foods, learning languages and travel. I really enjoy travelling because it allows me to do all of the above activities at once. Some places I have been include: various parts of China (once for the Olympics), Taiwan, South Korea (where I worked for a summer), Japan, Thailand, as well many parts of Europe as well as closer places such as parts of Mexico and Canada.
